Too large, too small, the wrong shape, the wrong fabric — this is the problem with everything standard. Here nothing is standard. You choose the silhouette, the height, the diameter, the fabric, the colour. The lampshade is made in Roma, to your measurements, to fit exactly your lamp, your room, your idea.

Four basic shapes, four characters. La Ronda, cylindrical and timeless. L'Abbigliata, flared and elegant. La Puntigliosa, pleated with rigour. La Sfaccettata, geometric and contemporary. But each is drawn in the dimensions and the fabrics you want — not those imposed on you.

It is the difference between decorating and inhabiting. Between placing any object and placing the right one. For those who know that light changes everything — and that a lampshade is never a detail.

The metal frame built in Roma

The inner structure of the lampshade — the part you do not see — determines the form, the strength, the life of the piece. The frame is in metal, hand-welded in the Roma atelier of the craftsman who works for Rima Fonti. Every weld is checked. The vertical ribs that mark La Ronda or La Sfaccettata are not decorative — they are structural. A poorly framed lampshade warps within a year. A well-framed one lasts decades.

How to choose the fabric

Two fundamental decisions. First: smooth or vertical plissé — the smooth gives a continuous, calm shadow; the plissé adds a rhythm of light on the wall. Second: always solid colour — the pattern is already in the shape of the lampshade, there is no need for a printed fabric that enters into conflict. At Rima Fonti you find a palette of 30 shades in linen, cotton and cotton-linen mix.

Typical dimensions and bespoke

Starting formats. Small (bedside, wall light): diameter 20-25 cm, height 15-20 cm. Medium (table lamp): diameter 30-40 cm, height 20-30 cm. Large (floor lamp): diameter 45-60 cm, height 30-45 cm. XL (central pendant): diameter 60-100 cm, height 35-60 cm.
