Harlequin Pastel

Harlequin’s costume was made of patches — diamonds sewn together because that was what the tailor had to hand that day, and it became a garment recognisable at centuries of distance. Zazie takes the motif and gives it two opposite translations. The Pastel lays out small diamonds in earthy, dusty tones — stone grey, paper blue, ochre, brick, faded mauve, mustard yellow — like an outfit that has danced at many parties and remembers them all quietly. The Fluo says something else entirely: larger diamonds, pure vivid colours — cobalt, magenta, orange, emerald, lemon yellow, cyclamen pink, turquoise — the party about to start, not the one that has ended. A sofa cushion is rarely a manifesto: this one can be, if you want it to.

Cotton hand-painted in Zazie’s Roman atelier — no silkscreen, no stencil, no shortcut. Each diamond goes down one at a time, with a brush that never lays paint down in quite the same way twice: between two Harlequins of the same palette, there are always small differences you notice only when you hold them side by side. Removable cover with hidden zip, filling included, washable at thirty degrees on a delicate cycle. Painted in Rome, sewn in Italy. Order two identical ones and you get two brothers — not two twins.
