The tiles of a Mediterranean courtyard that does not yet exist, but should. Large fuchsia and saffron-yellow squares separated by clean black lines, with a small emerald green tucked into the crossings — a wink, not a drawing. The rhythm recalls an Andalusian pavement or an eighteenth-century Ligurian tile, but Zazie’s brush saves it from turning industrial: every square has a slightly different colour density, every black line trembles the way a real line does. Tiles is the chair to place outside where the sun beats down — on a city rooftop, in a country house, next to a pot of lemon trees.
Solid beech frame, model C by Sillas Menorca — village workshop in Menorca making only this chair for almost a century. Here the wood is stained ebony, a precise choice: pale wood distracted from the pattern. Acrylic canvas hand-painted in Zazie’s Roman atelier. 84 × 51.9 × 59 cm open, 8 cm folded, five kilos — extremely light. Ecological varnish, canvas washable at thirty degrees. Born for outdoors but wonderfully at home indoors too; the only thing it really doesn’t like is three days of rain in a row without a roof over its head.
